Roberts Reaches 2,000 Yard Mark

Dyrell Robert's achieved a record he and his head coach sought out to reach - 2,000 yards rushing in a single season. Roberts rushed for over 2,000 yards in the Bay Rivers District and earned himself much respect as a premiere running back. Smithfield High School's football program was at the bottom of the league during Robert's freshman year. Three years later, behind Robert's elusive running and defensive skills, the "Pack" has been near the top of the Bay Rivers standings and is considered one of the top teams in the district. Failing to make the playoffs was a major disappointment for Smithfield, but Roberts should have no complaints in regards to his personal statistics.

Roberts has signed early with Virginia Tech and is expected to serve as a wideout/slot receiver for the Hokies in the fall of 2008.
